Ok, I'll bite. I've been in and out of boating for half my life (which means a very short time or I'm pretty old). I did alot of those years fixing, outfitting and sailing trailerable sailboats up to 26 feet long. More recently, I've owned a couple of older 30+ footers. When I was trailering I always thought a 30 foot sailboat would be a proper yacht. After owning a couple I still agree, 30 feet is my sweet spot. Big enough to cruise on, and small enough to heave off a dock, with a rig that doesn't require a team. I sold my last sailboat in a moment of doubt of whether I would be able to afford it in retirement (we've narrowed down that age thing a bit eh). A Bristol 31.1, she was a beauty to behold. But truthfully, not the most comfortable boat for my 1st mate, or myself I have to admit. After being boat-less for a season, I'm thinking it would be a good time to find something for next year. We've learned a bunch about what we like and don't like, how we actually use a boat, and what compromises need to be made. Let the search begin!
